Apparently some self-proclaimed Turkish Muslim hacker hacked my utterly insignificant blog. This blog gets about 30 visitors a day, on a really good day. And I don’t know what the point of hacking this one. Who ever got in, messed up the admin accounts of the blog and changed the home page saying that he/she is Muslim and from Turkey. But I really doubt that.
There wasn’t much of a damage as I had backups. Since I am not sure what is compromised and what is not. I deleted the entire site and restored it from backups. Blog was on maintenance mode for about 12 hours as I had to wait until I get home to do the restoring. I am pretty sure no one noticed it. Only damage was it cost me few good hours to restore things and change all the passwords. I am not exactly sure how the attacker got in. So there is more head scratching left to do.
But at least It gave me something to write about 🙂
