I am definitely not the guy to give you travel advice. But recently I happen to be in this hotel and it seemed a nice enough place to write something about. So far it’s the best place I have visited. It’s a very nice place with lots of nice views, nice people, nice friendly service, and nice everything. Of course there are things they can improve. But I’ll come to that later in the post.
Induruwa Beach Resort is located at Kaikawala, Bentota, Sri Lanka. When traveling from Colombo, you have to pass Bentota town and reach Kaikawala. When you are traveling down the Galle Road, you can’t miss it. Hotel entrance is right at the Galle Road.
What I like most about the hotel is, it had the best quality/price ratio out of the hotels that I have visited so far. Full board package at a deluxe room cost around LKR 8000/= for locals. It’s about 85/= USD for non-locals. However it did not include evening tea, which will cost you another hundred bucks (LKR). Room was quite large and comfortable. They have nicely layed out the hotel in a way that you get a good view of the sea where ever you are. Unfortunately I don’t have much snaps of the place to show you, because the idea of writing this came after I left the place. But you can find plenty of images from google image search or from hotel website. Following are some snaps I took at the beach just outside the hotel.
Food is really good. But compared to other places I have been to, available choice of food was limited. One problem I noticed was, restaurant is little small considering the number of rooms. They have 90 luxurious rooms. In a busy day it can get bit crowded. Restaurant staff is very friendly. They do a great job at serving guests as well as recycling the tables as soon as guests leave them. That can be bit annoying at times. We noticed that there is another closed restaurant upstairs at the hotel. May be they open it in busy days.
According to a hotel staff member most guests are Russian. There were a number of British guests too. According to the staff member the British started visiting hotel recently, thanks to a new partnership with a travel agency. There were only few local tourists. Among the places I have been, guests in this hotels are the friendliest and most interactive with each other. Also I could not help noticing that average age of guests was younger than most other places I have been in Sri Lanka. There is a DJ happening at every Saturday night. But it’s not that good. That is the only complain I have to make.
There is a very wide beach in front of the hotel. But when we were there, sea was bit rough. May be it got something to do with geology in the area. May be because it was a full moon day (full moon = high tide). But sea was relatively calmer at nearby beaches few hundred meters away from hotel. Just north of the hotel, there is a very beautiful beach. There the sea is relatively calmer, probably because it is protected by a natural breakwater. And the sea is shallow up to some distance. There were lot of locals and few non-locals enjoying in shallow waters. There is a large reef connected to beach just north of the hotel. You can easily climb it. It has a very beautiful view of the beaches. But in a rough sea day, some strong waves can go over it. Hotel staff might not allow you to go there if see is too rough.
If you happen to visit this hotel, don’t forget to visit Kosgoda Sea Turtle Hatchery. Specially if you are an animal lover. It’s only about 2km further south from the hotel. If you are lucky, you will also be able to witness releasing newborn baby sea turtles back to sea. Hikkaduwa is about one hours drive from the hotel. That is another place you can visit if you are staying here.
Local wildlife consist of few stray dogs, pigeons, squirrels and crows. But they all are good-looking :). If you love taking pictures, views at the hotel, beaches, number of reefs nearby and local wildlife will give you plenty of opportunities.
That’s it for today. Hope you enjoyed it.

Nice post 🙂 I really think this is helpful for people who is looking for a hotel to spend some leisure time……
That Induruwa/ Kosgoda area is still a relatively unspoilt stretch of beach – but be extremely careful when swimming here, the sea is rough and dangerous
Thanks the author for article. The main thing do not forget about users, and continue in the same spirit.
The worst hotel I have been to.They treat local tourists like durt.I did not see the small notice on the dining room door evening dresss for dinner. When this was pointed out by the restaurant manager I changed my shorts to proper dress. The foreign guests were allowed in shorts evan half naked.I pointed out this to the Manager.
Thanks for the info. This was not the case when I visited there which was more than a year ago. I was wearing shorts most of the time. Those days of course hotel was low on room occupancy.
However, recently I have noticed a similar trend of enforcing a dress code for dinner in number hotels I visited. But in those places it was same for both locals and foreigners. Personally I am against dress codes. It make things too formal and less relaxing.
When different rules apply based on your origin, it is just disgusting.
