Weddings are awesome, as long as you are not the groom!

It is with deepest sadness that I inform you that me getting married. (Hope my fiance don’t read this). Well getting married is probably ok. It’s the wedding which will suck the life out of you. I knew that wedding is a massive project. I have done number of projects before and I did them quite ok. But there is nothing like doing a wedding :S.

First you need to find a venue that fit the theme (Yep. I too thought only Windows has themes). And the crazy thing is if you are a Buddhist you need to start looking for a place about a year before the event.  Places get booked pretty early on nakath days. Specially the affordable places.  Same goes for photographers specially the popular names. Dressers and Decorator can wait a little longer but they are pretty fast-moving too. Specially the good ones. Also if you decide people/places to do the cakes, invitations, suits, etc it will come easy at the end. These things will need different amounts of time/money depending on the service provider.

When its gets closer to D-Day, doesn’t matter how early you started you get busy like crazy. Buy Saries, jewelry, Suits, find a DJ/Band, Guest list, Invitations, shoes, various dressing accessories, cake,   ……. the list goes on….

Trickiest part is managing different and conflicting user (relative/parent) requirements. Something that we developers are suppose to be good at. Kandian Bride or Indian Bride, Full Suit or Nilame, Home Coming or No Home Coming, DJ or Live Band, Liquor or No Liquor, Full Cake or Fake Structure, Separate event for registration or same day as wedding.

No wonder, wisest of the guys live single!
